HSBC Scholarships
In 1965, HSBC launched Hong Kong’s first social work scholarship scheme to support the city’s budding social work profession. In the 1990s, the HSBC Overseas Scholarship Scheme was launched to support the internationalisation of Hong Kong universities and students. In 2010, HSBC launched the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Scheme to support Hong Kong’s transition to an innovation hub. And in 2025, the HSBC Overseas Scholarship was expanded to become the HSBC Global Scholarship to cover top universities in mainland China and across the world.
For over half a century, we have supported over 7,000 students to pursue their dreams, empowering them to become global citizens through our scholarship schemes.
It’s our goal to continue enriching the young talent pool with opportunities to grow through our five flagship scholarship programmes in the city.

HSBC Social Work Scholarship |
In 1965, HSBC launched Hong Kong’s first social work scholarship scheme to support the city’s budding social work profession. It’s awarded to local full-time Bachelor of Social Work students to help them dedicate their career to the profession and become leaders in the sector. |

HSBC Global Scholarship |
To further promote international connectivity for Hong Kong youth, the Overseas Scholarship, established in 1996, has been renamed the HSBC Global Scholarship. This change accompanies an expansion of the Programme to include renowned universities in mainland China and other countries worldwide. Eligible for non-final year full-time undergraduate students who aspire to study at a renowned overseas university. |

HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship |
Eligible for full-time undergraduate students who have a strong commitment to Hong Kong and active in community service. |

HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship |
Eligible for local full-time sub-degree students who have outstanding academic performance, encouraging them to continue their pursuits. |

Under a joint sponsorship with the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government, HSBC and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups launched the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Scheme in 2011 to support Hong Kong’s transition to an innovation hub. Eligible for non-final year local undergraduates who study science, engineering and health-related subjects. |
