Strive and Rise Programme

HSBC believes that a community thrives when young people are given the opportunity to strive and rise. That’s why we became a strategic partner of the HKSAR government-led Strive and Rise Programme, to help mentor disadvantaged local youth.

Aiming to help secondary one to secondary three students from low-income families in Hong Kong, the mentorship programme drew support from around 120 enterprises and institutions. As a member of the programme’s Partners’ Board in the 2022-2023 cohort, we are committed to helping our youth broaden their horizons and rise to a brighter future.

We have chosen to focus on the youth of today because they are our future.

Luanne Lim, CEO, Hong Kong, HSBC

Over 300 HSBC staff were involved as mentors of the programme in the 2022-2023 cohort. By pairing up with a mentee, each of our volunteer mentors join a series of activities with the mentees, including financial education workshops, climate change interactive sessions, wetland tours and visits to M+ for the participating students.

HSBC staff and their mentees came together for an activity-based workshop at M+, Hong Kong’s global museum of visual culture.

Dedicating their time to coaching the young mentees and to helping them reach their full potential, our staff also invited the students to HSBC headquarters to share their own career journeys, sowing the seeds for more inspired conversations.

The most important thing is to support young people positively.
