Food Angel Partnership

In 2023, The Hongkong Bank Foundation unveiled a three-year partnership with Food Angel to scale up food assistance in Hong Kong, with a focus to support underprivileged elderly groups and their communities.

With our support, Food Angel’s daily cook-chill meal production capacity will increase by 60 per cent and total production will reach 7.2 million meals by 2026.

To make meals more accessible to the needy, one of the key elements of this partnership is an initiative called “Hearty-Meal Express”. The initiative involves installing new automated food dispensers in low-income neighbourhoods to allow for the flexible collection of Food Angel’s popular cook-chill meals. Targeting districts that have isolated seniors, we aim to distribute about 900,000 food items in total and help the elderly re-establish much-needed connection between themselves and the community.

Members of the public, NGOs, and our HSBC volunteers will also pay regular visits to the underprivileged, delivering meals and showing love and care.

We endeavour to build age-friendly communities so that senior citizens can feel supported.
